Automatic Swing Door Preventive Maintenance Checklist
by Gillian Rafferty, from the Community
This preventive maintenance checklist helps technicians inspect automatic swing doors for safety and compliance. Capture site and asset details, manufacturer and door type, and required images. Measure opening and closing forces under 150 N, set door speeds and energies to BS EN 16005 or BS 7036, and record opening, closing, and hold open times. Verify activation and safety detection zones for inner and outer radars, threshold and rear edge areas, and monitored sensor actions. Check mechanical protections including fingerguards, barriers, hinge protection, and construction gaps. Confirm escape system behavior on power loss and faults, breakout function with force under 220 N, and required signage. Complete additional checks for program switch lockout, occupier safety records, locks, and fire alarm connection, then document conformity, compliance, and signatures.
