Automatic Door Preventive Maintenance Checklist
by Gillian Rafferty, from the Community
Streamline preventive maintenance for automatic swing doors with a structured checklist that captures asset details, manufacturer and type, images, and compliance settings. Verify opening and closing forces under 150 N and breakout force under 220 N, record opening and closing times, hold open time, clear opening width, and set speeds to BS EN 16005 or BS 7036. Measure inner and outer radar detection zones, safety sensor fields, and monitor mechanical hinge protection. Check signage, access control, escape behavior, and power failure response. Document PUWER compliance from suitability and maintenance to controls, isolation, emergency stop, stability, lighting, markings, and warnings. Capture hazards with photos, recommendations, and client and engineer signatures.
