FF Mealtime Observation Checklist

This FF Mealtime Observation checklist helps nurseries and early years settings assess mealtime routines and learning. Review handwashing for practitioners and children, independent use of bibs or aprons, small group seating with adult supervision, access to water and opportunities to pour, staff role modeling, self-serve elements, use of appropriate cutlery, encouragement to eat, and discussion to extend learning. Capture examples of good practice, areas for development, notes, and the observer signature. Suitable for monitoring outcomes for all children, including those with special educational needs and disabilities.
