Light Vehicle Pre-start Inspection Checklist

This light vehicle pre-start inspection template helps drivers and supervisors verify vehicle roadworthiness before use. It covers visual damage checks, windscreen and mirrors, wipers and washers, tyre wear and pressures (including the spare), full lighting system and beacons, reverse alarms, UHF radio, licence plates, and under-vehicle leaks. Under the hood, confirm coolant, oil, power steering, brake/clutch, washer, and transmission fluid levels and that the battery is secure. Function tests include foot and hand brakes, horn, heater/AC, and safety items like first aid kit, fire extinguisher, wheel chocks, warning signs, jack, and wheel brace. Capture photos and comments when items are at risk and complete a sign-off to record date, location, odometer, and inspector details.
