SCO Audit Checklist for Retail Self-Checkout
by Sean Banner, from the Community
This SCO Audit checklist helps retailers evaluate self-checkout performance and controls. It covers inventory and bagging-area error detection, correct handling of mismatched or unscanned items, and availability of carrier bags. Operational checks include lane status, payment acceptance, stock and price cards, traffic light indicators, cleanliness, and an organized attendant station. It assesses customer queuing, coordinator presence and engagement, intervention handling, and role awareness. Administrative controls include key management, deposits and removals, test purchases, cash sheets, balance reports, end-of-day sign-off, receipts and pickups, sales reconciliation, zero till differences, and rota assignment.
