Intruder Alarm Preventative Maintenance Checks
by Russell Omar, from the Community
This preventative maintenance checklist helps engineers service intruder and hold-up alarm systems in line with BS 9263:2016. It covers verification against as-fitted documents, tamper detection to the CIE, setting and unsetting procedures, entry/exit checks, and testing of power supplies and APS, including battery current readings and capacity calculations. Perform full walk tests of detectors and HDs, test PA buttons in day mode, assess environmental impacts, verify operation of internal and external warning devices (including hold-off voltage removal), and conduct visual inspections for electrical and physical issues. Includes engineer notes, required actions, and sign-offs.
