Pettit Weekly Support Space Inspection Checklist

Use this checklist to conduct weekly inspections of Pettit laboratory support spaces, including chases, loading dock, chemical storage rooms, gas storage, and LN2 tanks. Verify dry floors and absence of leaks, remove obstructions from electrical panels, eliminate trip hazards, and maintain cleanliness. Confirm gas connections are secure and leak-tight; ensure cylinders are properly chained with caps, stored by compatibility, and corrosive or toxic gases are in cabinets. Check base/solvent and acid rooms for proper storage, spills, odors, and fan operation. Inspect oxidizer/inert gas storage under the cooling tower, and assess 6,000- and 3,000-gallon LN2 tanks for icing, unusual hissing, vaporizer ice buildup, and line integrity, including rolling gate obstructions and stainless supply line icing. Include silane cylinder security when present.
