General Population Housing Inspection Checklist
by Dan OBrien, from the Community
This jail housing inspection checklist helps teams assess general population areas in a main facility. Sections cover entry hallways, control tower, nearby areas, chemical storage, staff bathrooms, storage rooms, and pipe chases. It prompts checks on cleanliness, lighting, obstructions, inventories, and fire extinguishers. For each dorm, it reviews inmate needs and morale, dayrooms, showers, phones, and cells including lights, bars, windows, vents, toilets, sinks, and overall maintenance issues.
