Facilities Compliance Inspection Checklist
by Stephen Greenwood, from the Community
This facilities compliance inspection checklist helps property and facilities teams assess communal and landlord areas for safety, cleanliness, and maintenance. It covers internal repairs, lighting, flooring, staircases, notice boards, and cleaning contract records. External checks include lighting, doors, gates, housekeeping, rainwater drainage, fencing, and grounds maintenance. Fire safety is addressed with signage, exits, doors, and operational tests for emergency lighting, fire alarms, and lift emergency calls. Specialist systems include electricals, CCTV, intercoms, alarms, lightning protection, automatic doors and gates, HVAC, commercial gas, and fire systems such as AOVs, dry risers, sprinklers, and firefighting equipment. Lifting equipment and passenger lifts are included, as well as water systems like pumps, outlets, sewerage, and tank chlorination, enabling teams to record hazards and actions for compliance.
