Bollard and Blocker Preventative Maintenance Checklist
by Andy Holland, from the Community
This template supports planned preventative maintenance visits for automatic bollards and vehicle blockers. It guides engineers through safety and compliance checks aligned with PUWER, HSE guidance, GateSafe, and DHF codes of practice. Sections cover site and equipment details, photos, counts of bollards and spaces, control types, and dimensions. Inspect barrier directions, intercoms, IR beams, warning lights, safety edges, signage, and battery backup. Perform mechanical and hydraulic checks, clean and lubricate moving parts, verify limit switches and end stops, and test manual release mechanisms. Review electrical installations, cable routing, containment, breakers, and connections. Record defects, recommendations, additional risks, and overall condition, then capture signatures for engineer and client to complete sign off.
