Pre-Operational Vehicle Inspection Checklist
by Jonathan Boylan, from the Community
Use this pre-operational vehicle inspection to ensure vehicles are safe and ready before each shift. Inspect exterior condition, tyres, wheel nuts, oil and fluid levels, mirrors, cab cleanliness, dashboard instrumentation, lights, wipers, and safety documentation (SWMS and SOPs). Record checks for specialized systems like vacuum units and NDD equipment, confirm emergency stops, and capture photos of issues. Inventory tools and safety equipment on board, then complete the daily log with odometer and hour readings, AdBlue and fuel additions, and end-of-shift data. Note defects, corrective actions, and capture operator signatures to maintain compliance and fleet safety.
