Equipment Checks - Ground Power Unit (GPU)
by Gary Thistlethwaite, from the Community
This template supports routine inspections of Ground Power Units (GPUs) used in aviation ground operations. It guides teams to verify bodywork and locking panels, towbar, towing eye and braking systems, correct stowage and condition of power cables and plugs, wheel and tyre condition, obstruction beacon operation, and full functionality of console controls. Record the GPU asset ID, site, inspector and time, capture photos of defects, and add notes. If defects are found, remove the unit from service and notify a line manager. Use this checklist to standardize ramp safety, improve equipment reliability, and maintain compliance with operating procedures.
