This Trailer Inspection Checklist helps drivers and fleet teams confirm trailer roadworthiness before trips and on a regular schedule. Inspect brakes, lights and indicators, tires and lug nuts, couplings and safety chains, wheel bearings and suspension, reflectors and license plate visibility, and overall condition including rims, chassis, and rust. Verify towbar ratings and coupling locks, ensure loads are properly secured, and confirm VIN and compliance plate details. Use it for daily pre-trip checks and periodic inspections to improve safety, reduce downtime, and maintain compliance.
