Trackside Survey for Operational Telecommunications
by Ting Wong, from the Community
This trackside survey template supports operational telecommunications teams conducting rail route assessments. Capture project and surveyor details, ELR, mileage/meterage, OS Grid Reference, and What3Words. Document SPTs and phones, including IDs, lock status, key type, condition, height from ground, and tail termination points. Record cabinets, REBs, and FTN/FTNx nodes with access methods, required keys, dimensions, and terminated cables. Note signal boxes, side of line, walkways, asset identification, and route-to-site notes to improve planning, safety, and data consistency.
