Site Safety Management Plan SMP Implementation Assessment
by Harry Wattis, from the Community
This checklist helps teams assess implementation of a Site Safety Management Plan across residential or facility sites. It reviews access to the SMP and safety resources, staff induction and mandatory HSE training, and the currency of Emergency Response and Extreme Weather plans. It checks evacuation diagrams, PEEP requirements, and whether an Emergency Response Team is in place. It verifies incident logging, investigation and injury management processes, first aid readiness, and the existence of a site risk register, risk assessments and safe work instructions. It covers hazardous substances controls, traffic management, consultation and toolbox talks. Facility maintenance elements include asbestos and hazardous substance registers, preventive maintenance schedules, document storage, quarterly property inspections, hot water tests, electrical testing and tagging, RCD tests, emergency drills, fire equipment servicing, and property maintenance tracking.
