Quarterly Dry Sprinkler Valve Checklist (Viking G-4000)
by Botha CG, from the Community
This quarterly preventive maintenance checklist guides technicians through the inspection and servicing of Viking G-4000 dry pipe sprinkler valves. Tasks include reviewing safety requirements and manufacturer instructions; checking supply and system pressures and maintaining correct air-to-water ratios; confirming the intermediate chamber is free of water and the PORV shows no air discharge; inspecting for mechanical damage or corrosion; ensuring the valve and trim are protected from freezing; verifying normal valve positions; performing water flow alarm and main drain tests; resetting alarms and panels; conducting low air alarm testing (including accelerator operation where fitted); restoring normal pressures; and documenting results and notifications to the authority having jurisdiction. Use this checklist to standardize procedures, capture readings, and support fire code compliance.
