Emergency Lighting and SFG20 Maintenance Checklist
by Patrick Robinson, from the Community
This SFG20-aligned inspection checklist helps facilities and building services teams maintain emergency and general lighting, hand dryers, and battery charging equipment. It covers full-duration emergency lighting tests, restoration checks, visual inspections of luminaires, logbook entries, and battery life verification. For general lighting, it includes lamp condition checks across LED, fluorescent, discharge, and tungsten types; illuminance verification; security fixings; cable connections; control gear; switching; and timing. Hand dryer steps include wiring, insulation resistance, earth continuity, and motor bearing checks. Battery charging equipment tasks cover cleaning, corrosion, insulation, fixings, contacts, cable and gland terminations, and indicator/ammeter/voltmeter operation. Use this template to standardize PPM, capture issues with photos and notes, and support compliance.
