Use this apartment inspection checklist to record the condition of a rental unit during move-in and compare it at move-out. Cover general areas, entry doors and hardware, exterior fixtures, hallway and vestibule finishes, electrical, and smoke detectors. Inspect living and dining rooms, floors, walls, windows, doors, lighting, and furnishings if applicable. Review the kitchen, including cabinets, counters, appliances, sink and plumbing, and ventilation. Add bedrooms and bathrooms as needed, documenting surfaces, windows, fixtures, and hardware. Capture notes and photos, then collect tenant and landlord names and signatures to create an auditable record and reduce disputes.
