Underground Electrical Bay VFD Inspection SWI
by Nyamjav Terbish, from the Community
Use this Safe Work Instruction to perform planned monthly inspections of underground fans’ variable frequency drives in electrical bays. The procedure covers pre-start preparations and C1 isolation, required PPE, arc flash precautions, housekeeping, and hazard controls. Inspect panels for damage, confirm asset IDs, voltage ratings, arc flash labels, CRM signage, and correct feed-from/to labels. Verify locks, check cables, alarms and warnings on the VFD, and ensure cooling and air-conditioning filters are serviceable. On completion, clean the area, return tools and parts, record any defects or repairs, and notify supervision.
