Daily Sand and Gravel Geotechnical Inspection
by Chris Pennock, from the Community
Use this daily geotechnical inspection checklist to assess dredger operations at sand and gravel sites. Verify access and haul roads, edge protection and stand off at faces, and controls that prevent vehicle access to face edges. Check life buoys and emergency gear, winch rope anchor points, and signs of unexpected face failure. Confirm clear access to the dredger, equipment suitability, and floating pipeline integrity. Record defects, note required rectification or safety plans, and escalate to managers or specialists as needed before sign off.
