This HSE trolley ladder inspection checklist helps frontline teams verify the condition and safety of trolley and extension ladders before use. Inspect overall condition for wear and damage, corrosion, splinters, sharp edges, and loose components. Confirm feet are functional with slip resistant pads, rung locks and spreader braces work, and all bolts, rivets, fasteners, anchors, and screws are tight. Check platforms and steps for firm, undamaged surfaces free of debris, oil, and grease. Review nonslip bases, side rail extension of at least 3 feet at landings, portable ladder length limits, and use of clamps to prevent slip. For extension ladders, test locks, flippers, and rope operation through the pulley. Address trolley wheel adjustments. Use as a guide to improve safety and equipment compliance across sites.
