New Staff Training Checklist for Restaurants
by Jason LeGroulx, from the Community
This new staff training checklist guides restaurant hires through four structured shifts to build confidence and consistency. It covers health and safety, WHMIS and MSDS awareness, proper food rotation using FIFO, sanitizer use, dishwashing methods, safe knife skills, and equipment safety. Trainees learn each station on the line, complete temperature checks, prepare wraps, bowls, poutines, and signature dishes, and practice cleaning and cross contamination prevention. The checklist also includes POS training for walk in and pickup orders, gift cards and loyalty, opening and closing procedures, and quizzes to verify readiness for independent shifts.
