Monthly Food Safety Audit Checklist
by Guillermo Montserrat, from the Community
Use this monthly food safety audit checklist to verify kitchen compliance and reduce risk across food preparation areas. Assess structure and equipment condition, lighting, ventilation, sinks, work surfaces, and refrigeration. Check contamination controls, correct separation and storage of foods, color coded tools, glove and apron use, pest free premises, and probe availability. Confirm temperature records, thawing and cooling practices, and calibrated probes. Review cleaning schedules, chemical use, pot wash and dishwashing performance, waste handling, and external refuse areas. Evaluate personal hygiene, handwashing, uniforms, illness reporting, and jewelry rules. Validate allergen controls, labeling, shelf life, and team training records.
