Fire Exit Routes and Fire Exit Doors Checklist
by Victoria Gabb, from the Community
This hotel focused checklist supports monthly inspections of fire exit routes and fire exit doors to maintain safe egress and compliance. It guides staff to verify self closing action, check frame and floor gap tolerances, confirm continuous and undamaged intumescent seals, and assess any door or glass damage. Sections cover guest floors, stairwells, lift lobbies, conference rooms, kitchens, buffet and restaurant areas, staff corridors, laundry, car park access, and assembly point doors. Results are documented for each door so the Hotel Manager or Maintenance Manager can file reports and make them available to authorised inspectors.
