This Checklist by Brisbane City Council to self-assess your start rating. Under Council’s Eat Safe Brisbane food safety rating scheme, all licensed food businesses within Brisbane will be issued with a food safety star rating. These will be based on an assessment conducted by Council under the Food Act 2006 and good management practices. The scheme was introduced to protect the health and well-being of residents and visitors.
This restaurant health inspection checklist helps managers and supervisors verify compliance with food safety and sanitation standards. Cover critical items such as manager food safety knowledge, illness reporting, no bare-hand contact with ready-to-eat foods, proper glove use, cooking and hot holding temperatures, cooling within safe timeframes, and using time in lieu of temperature. Confirm clean and sanitized food-contact surfaces, correct sanitizer concentrations, and operational handwashing stations. Check chemical labeling and storage, raw and ready-to-eat food separation, pest prevention, ice machine cleanliness, leak-free fixtures, produce washing, towel storage, and overall kitchen cleanliness, lighting, organization, and storage off the floor.
This Eat Fit Partner Stop-in checklist supports on-site visits for restaurant partners. Verify window seals and signage, confirm Eat Fit logos and labels on printed, digital, and to-go menus, and ensure the app reflects current offerings. Assess staff knowledge and that education has been completed within the last six months. Review menus for additional Eat Fit items that can be added and capture updated photos as needed. Use this tool to keep branding, labeling, and guest information accurate and consistent across channels.
