The Royal Pharmaceutical Society 'Safe and Secure Handling of Medicines - A Team Approach March 2005' indicates ward/department stock audits should be carried out at least every twelve months. Part or the entire audit may be delegated to a suitably trained Registered Pharmacy Technician, according to local arrangements. The responsibility for the organisation, monitoring and reporting on the safe and secure handling of medicines and compliance with standards should remain with a pharmacist. This audit also takes into account references to: - NHS Business Services Authority, NHS Protect: Medicines Security Ward/Department Checklist (Jan 2014) - Care Quality Commission (CQC) Essential Standards Outcome 9: Management of Medicines (March 2010)
