SVPHS Weekly Safety Observation

Use this weekly hospital safety observation checklist to inspect wards and rooms. Verify clear walkways and safe storage, dry floors, and good housekeeping. Check chemical safety including labeled storage, access to safety data sheets, spill kits, and appropriate personal protective equipment. Review emergency readiness including illuminated exit signs, posted exit maps, unobstructed exits, and self closing doors. Confirm fire prevention practices and that extinguishers are accessible. Inspect electrical safety for damaged plugs, sockets, switches, and leads. Check medical gases with oxygen cylinders secured. Assess environment including dust free walls and vents, intact ducting, and clean privacy curtains. Ask staff about the fire warden and how to report workplace injuries. Capture photos and comments, sign off, and log non conformances in Riskman using the Report It app.
