Sheltered Housing and Community Alarm Compliance Audit
by Jordan Wheeler, from the Community
This Adult Services checklist is designed for sheltered housing schemes and community alarm operations to ensure full compliance across property and resident safety. It covers site information, asbestos management and training, electrical installation condition reports, emergency lighting tests, portable appliance testing, and controls to prevent socket overloading. Fire safety sections include risk assessments, evacuation plans, alarm servicing and weekly tests, extinguisher training, and personal emergency evacuation plans. Gas and oil safety capture service dates, certificates, detected faults, remedial actions, and evidence. Water hygiene is managed through legionella risk assessments, updates after significant works, and tracking of remedials. Lifting equipment compliance (LOLER) for hoists, lifts, stairlifts, slings, and inspections or servicing is included. Internal and external health and safety walkarounds address housekeeping, COSHH, first aid provision, escape routes, doors and plant rooms, lighting, landscaping, scooter storage and charging risks, and general site security, concluding with an audit summary and approval.
