Subcontractor Safety Checklist for Offshore Wind
by Charline Dhoekers, from the Community
This subcontractor safety checklist is designed for offshore wind operations at Thornton Bank and helps teams align subcontractors with the same standards as permanent staff. It guides leaders through pre-departure briefings, crew transfer vessel induction, PPE verification (helmet, life jacket, survival suit, harness, lanyards, gloves), radio setup and emergency procedures, lifting operation restrictions and color codes, hatch management on WTG or OTS, use of the HACA slider, location of lifesaving equipment and PPE storage in the nacelle, and emergency escape steps. It also covers housekeeping, daily waste return to shore (Ostend), midday status updates, and working hour and departure time limits, ensuring safe, compliant offshore work.
