This audit protocol supports cathodic protection spot measurements for buried assets such as pipelines. It covers equipment checks for multimeters and copper sulphate reference cells, locating and opening test points, correct placement of the reference electrode, soil moisture checks and wetting if required, identifying potential cables, connecting test leads, measuring and recording structure potentials including casing differences, checking for and documenting galvanic anodes, measuring anode current and open-circuit voltage, recording off potential, evaluating adequacy of anode current with notifications if insufficient, and securing the site with full sign-off.
