Bowlin Energy General Work and Storm Inspection
by Glenn Sizemore, CHST, STS, from the Community
This electric utility safety inspection checklist supports Bowlin Energy crews conducting general linework and storm restoration. It guides supervisors and auditors through job briefings, hazard identification, and energized versus de-energized procedures, including use of a dedicated observer. The template covers PPE for bucket and ground operations, rubber goods checks, fall protection, dielectric testing, grounding, hand and rescue lines, and climber safety. It includes 8-1-1 dig-in requirements, workzone protection compliant with MUTCD, flagger certifications, signage, and traffic conditions. Vehicle and equipment checks span log books, inspections, housekeeping, spill kits, fire extinguishers, and chocks. Additional sections address wire pulling communication, digger derrick grounding, and documentation to maintain safety and compliance in utility field operations.
