Conduct comprehensive bi-annual safety audits for university and school laboratories with this structured inspection checklist. Assess lab layout, clear walkways, lighting, ventilation, and first aid availability. Verify emergency procedures, signage, extinguishers, alarms, and PPE compliance. Review manual handling, electrical safety, and general lab housekeeping. Evaluate chemical inventories, SDS access, storage and segregation, spill kits, and waste management. Include checks for fume cupboards and biosafety cabinets, ionising and non-ionising radiation controls, gas cylinders and cryogenics, and plant and equipment guarding. Capture photos, assign actions, responsible persons, and target dates to close out issues.
