Unit 113: Inspect, Test and Commission Electrical Systems
by Stephen Kopczyk, from the Community
This Level 3 NVQ Unit 113 template supports candidates in inspecting, testing, commissioning and certifying electrical systems in buildings and structures. It aligns with Electricity at Work Regulations, BS 7671 Wiring Regulations, Building Regulations and IET Guidance Note 3. Evidence is gathered from real workplace tasks across two occasions, including safe isolation, risk assessment, visual inspections, continuity, insulation resistance, polarity, earth loop impedance, RCD or RCBO, and functional tests. Learners complete job records, condition reports, schedules of inspection and test results, and minor works certificates. The unit also covers sampling for Electrical Installation Condition Reports, analysis and verification of results, stakeholder notification, and assessor or expert witness feedback, with embedded behaviours B1 to B6.
