Switch Board Post Energisation Check Sheet
by Diarmuid O'Donovan, from the Community
This switchboard post energisation check sheet guides electricians through pre-commissioning and commissioning checks to ensure safe energisation. It covers visual inspection for damage, presence and condition of escutcheons and covers, protection against access to live parts, confirmation of wiring, and readiness for energisation. Technicians record meter details, measure voltages at the SPD, main circuit breakers, RCDs and small breakers, verify phase rotation, and confirm WP meter and live indicators. The checklist includes RCD make and model and trip tests, circuit breaker settings, fault loop impedance and prospective short circuit values by phase, grading with upstream protection, sealing settings, and final lockout or tagout notes before energising final circuits.
