This SWDC bridge and culvert inspection checklist helps asset managers and inspectors record key details and assess condition across all major elements. Capture general info such as structure name, road, dimensions, culvert type, construction year, inspector, and location. Evaluate superstructure and secondary elements, including load-carrying components, transverse beams, and deck. Review load-bearing substructure elements like foundations and head walls, plus durability items such as drainage, movement joints, and coatings. Check safety elements, including access, guardrails, and surfacing. Assess waterway conditions—river bed, aprons, upstream/downstream, scour, and banks—and retaining elements like wing and retaining walls and embankments. Log other approach elements, signage, lighting, and services. For each finding, add comments, suggested remedial works, priorities, estimated costs, and attach relevant photos. Conclude with maintenance recommendations, follow-up on previous actions, and any NZTA database updates.
