Bridge Structures General Inspection Checklist
by Ashvittha Santhaseelan, from the Community
This bridge structures general inspection checklist helps asset owners and local government teams assess the condition of bridges on a two-year cycle. It guides inspectors through approaches (signage, guardrails, drainage, wearing surfaces), the surface over structure, embankments and waterways, and critical components such as substructure, superstructure, bearings, and deck joints. It also covers culvert barrels, large traffic management signs and gantries, roadway beneath structure, attached services, appearance, graffiti, security measures, and vermin screens. Each item allows comments, photo evidence, and flags for rectification, further inspection, or maintenance.
