This pre-use ladder inspection template helps workers verify ladder condition before starting work. It covers ladder types and IDs, stiles, feet, labels, platforms, locking mechanisms, and steps or treads, including contamination and loose or missing fixings. Guidance is included to remove damaged or unsafe ladders from service, apply signage and barriers, and place movable items in a designated red tag area until repaired. Inspectors can record corrosion, other damaged parts such as bracing bars, shoes, rivets, and hinges, note any additional issues, and sign off completion to support safe work at height.
