Pre Task Crane Checklist for Lifting and Hoists
by Ryan Wells, from the Community
Use this pre task crane checklist to validate safety before any lift or hoist on construction sites. The template guides teams through pre lift meetings, personnel roles, licenses, and training. It covers weather and wind checks, hand signals, communication between operator, signal person, and riggers, and confirmation of materials and rigging methods. Inspect rigging gear, confirm ground conditions and outrigger setup, review swing radius barricades, assign a spotter, and verify safe clearance from power lines. Record names for accountability and complete sign offs from the lift supervisor and site foreman to document readiness and compliance.
