Mobile Scaffolding Task Inspection Checklist
by Cassandra Cook, from the Community
This mobile scaffolding task inspection checklist helps crews verify safe setup, access, and use of mobile scaffold towers on site. It covers SWMS sign-on, requirements for certified scaffolders over 4 m, firm and level ground, locked castor wheels, correct bracing and joints, and adherence to a 225 kg working load limit. The checklist also verifies guardrails at 900–1100 mm, toe boards, internal ladder positioning and slope, secure trapdoors, fully decked platforms, and minimum 1 m clearance from slab edges and penetrations. It includes guidance on when outriggers are required (3:1 or 2:1 ratios), keeping people off platforms while moving, setting exclusion zones for public and plant, and maintaining safe distances from electrical hazards. Record corrective actions, responsibilities, and due dates to close out issues.
