Used Equipment Inspection Checklist
Evaluate used construction machinery before purchase with this step by step inspection checklist. Record manufacturer, model, serial number, year, and hours. Confirm included attachments. Test start up, observe exhaust smoke, and verify the machine drives and brakes correctly with all hydraulic functions working. Review machine history and overall appearance including paint, decals, cab, windows, and tailgate. Inspect the undercarriage including tracks or tires, rollers, and sprockets. Check electrical systems such as headlights and tail lights, battery, gauges, lights, and hour meter. Verify safety devices including parking brake, power take off lockouts, and seat bar. Assess the engine and cooling system including fuel system, air filters, belt tension, radiator, coolers, and lubrication. Identify engine and hydraulic leaks and confirm engine oil, hydraulic oil, coolant levels, and greasing. Examine work equipment including Power Bobtach, pivot point wear, hoses, fittings, and tubelines. Capture photos of key areas and add comments to document condition and actions. Ideal for buyers, fleet managers, and dealers to reduce risk and support informed decisions.
