Use this semi-annual drill rig maintenance checklist to keep drilling equipment safe and reliable in spring and fall. The checklist guides technicians through key preventive maintenance tasks including checking for water in the transmission, right-angle drive, and hydraulic tank; adjusting the clutch and rotary head chain; inspecting mast sheaves and bushings; verifying hydraulic hoist oil levels and brake function; draining fuel; confirming engine governor operation; and inspecting the feed frame, A-frame, engine mounts, deck areas, hydraulic jacks, and cross members for cracks or distortion. It also covers visual inspection of mast welds, cathead wear limits, Kelly drive alignment, and reinstating all guards and safety devices after maintenance, with approvals and sign-off for work performed.
