Construction Phase Health and Safety Inspection
by Lauren Franklin, from the Community
This construction phase health and safety inspection checklist helps site teams verify compliance across the project. Review administrative controls including plans, inductions, permits, and statutory records such as LOLER and PUWER. Inspect welfare, housekeeping, security, fire precautions, access, and lighting. Assess high-risk activities like work at height, excavations, lifting operations, temporary electrics, and PPE use. Evaluate health hazards from manual handling, noise, dust, vibration, COSHH, and infection control. Check environmental management of waste, hazardous substances, spills, dust, noise, and water protection. Capture observations, track outstanding issues, and complete formal sign off.
