Use this checklist to perform an annual inspection of portable ladders across campuses and facilities. Verify materials, non-slip rungs, rung condition, cleanliness, secure attachments, safety feet, rivets and fasteners, rails, labels, and overall stability. For step, extension, and platform ladders, assess spreaders, hinges, tops, rail shields, locks, ropes, pulleys, and j-locks. Remove ladders from service if defects are found and document repairs or replacements. Conclude with a compliance decision to ensure ladders are safe for continued use.
