Use this structured risk assessment template to evaluate hazards and controls for automatic and manual gates and traffic barriers. Capture site details, gate type and configuration, users and vulnerable persons, weather and ground conditions. Identify design hazards across foundations, gate leaves, supports, travel stops, electrical supply, control systems, safety devices, leading edges and barrier arms. Record mitigation by safe design, guards, structural integrity, derailment prevention, electrical safety to BS 7671, control device reliability and pedestrian and vehicle control methods. Document hazards requiring safety devices, residual risks, maintenance schedules and logs, and compliance with applicable EU Machinery Directive essential health and safety requirements.
