Task-Based Hazardous Manual Handling Awareness Training
by Nicholas French, from the Community
This free checklist supports task-based hazardous manual handling awareness training for transport and logistics teams. Record session details and attendees, identify task-specific hazards such as awkward postures, reaching above shoulder height, heavy or hard-to-grip loads, confined spaces, adverse conditions, and fatigue, then apply the hierarchy of controls. Reinforce safe techniques including planning posture, keeping loads close, bending at hips and knees, minimizing overhead work, pushing rather than pulling, using assistive devices, asking for help, and taking short rests. Capture PPE requirements, proposed improvements, demonstrations, and session completion.
