Use this comprehensive checklist to assess work zone setup and vehicle safety for traffic control operations. Verify JSA completion, crew briefings, and availability of drinking water and breaks. Confirm PPE compliance for traffic technicians, including hard hats, eye protection, Class III vests, Class E pants, safety-toe boots, whistles, and radios, with additional items for night operations. Inspect zone layout and signage: proper spacing, compliant tapers, adequate roll-ahead distance, cone placement, paddle use, radio communication, and flagger positioning. Check equipment such as arrow boards, tires, tow chains, trailer wiring, and sign packages. Complete vehicle checks including documentation, first aid kit, fire extinguisher, seat belts, curbing wheels, parking brake, and device readiness.
