Bird/Wildlife Aircraft Strike Hazard Program
by 167th Wing Safety Office, from the Community
This Flight Bird/Wildlife Aircraft Strike Hazard (BASH) checklist supports aviation units in reducing wildlife strike risk and aligning with AFI 91-204. It covers reporting procedures in AFSAS, validity of depredation and DNR permits, effectiveness of passive hazard reduction, mission timing by phase level, and airfield grounds maintenance (e.g., 7–14 inch grass heights). It also prompts annual BASH plan review, program improvement opportunities, and includes signature routing for supervisors, commanders, and the safety office.
