This Downer Light Vehicle (VAN) Audit checklist helps teams assess fleet vans for roadworthiness and compliance. It covers vehicle and driver details, licence validity, registration and WOF/COF due dates, service date and kilometres, odometer and RUC readings, and general body and decal condition. Inspect windows, body panels, door locks and handles, over-dimensional hazard panels and warning labels. Verify tyre tread depth and wear, tow-bar colour coding, and any drawbar or crane certifications. Check load security and safety devices including all lights, beacons, remote controls, horn, and reversing alarms or cameras. Confirm the presence and status of first aid kits and fire extinguishers with current test tags. Evaluate cab condition and housekeeping, seat condition, and seatbelt operation. Record last pre-start entry, discuss issues with the operator, issue lockout tags if required, and attach photos from multiple angles. Intended as a starting point and not a substitute for professional advice.
