by christopher ridihalgh, from the Community
This brush truck inspection checklist helps fire and emergency crews confirm vehicle readiness before each shift. Verify engine fluids, belts, hoses, power steering and washer fluid. Test driver controls including headlights, brake and backup lights, turn signals, wipers, siren, emergency lights, and 4‑way flashers, and check fuel level. Confirm cab items such as insurance and map books, ERG, NIOSH book, radios, reflector vests, tow straps, and safety masks. Inspect exterior equipment: gas can, pump operation, water tank level, booster lines, water jugs, chainsaw, hand tools (shovels, fire brooms, bolt cutters, wrenches, rake, hay hook), foam jug, drip torch, and attack hoses. Use this template to document findings and keep emergency vehicles mission ready.
