2K Paint 5S Audit: Rework, Classify and Label Areas
by Nick Martin, from the Community
This 2K Paint 5S audit checklist helps teams assess painting workcells and adjacent areas for 5S compliance. It covers exit routes, min and max inventory adherence, elimination of unused tools and parts, tidy bezel and inspection tunnel areas, and removal of slip and trip hazards. Items include shadowboards fully stocked, organized coat racks and storage, clean racks and cabinets, orderly wiring for computers and scanners, clean fans and lighting, and proper waste segregation with bins that are not overflowing. Inspect electrical panels for proper condition and 3-foot clearance, confirm clear visual identification of cells and stations with standard signage, and verify homes for movable items via shadowboxing. Validate defined min and max levels for supplies, components, WIP, and packaging, ensure bezel areas and paint process samples are organized and appropriately labeled, and check that painted surfaces and columns are in good condition with mutilation protection where required.
